Finding a suitable journal for publication

Decree on the Implementation of Scientific Research Work in Accordance with the Principles of Open Science , within the framework of funding scientific research activities from public sources in the Republic of Slovenia in the amount of at least 50%, and the European Commission under the Horizon Europe programme stipulate that eligible recipients of funds may publish articles in any way that ensures compliance with the obligation of immediate openness.
●  in gold and diamond open access journals, or journals that are fully open without subscription for reading
●  on publishing platforms for open access publications (e.g., Open Research Europe)
●  in hybrid journals that are only partially open (only those articles for which authors pay an APC).

Individual payment of APCs for open access publications in hybrid journals is not an eligible expense under the funding agreement; publications are possible within consortium agreements that provide journal access and open access publishing in these journals (in such cases, the openness costs are covered by the purchasing consortium).
In the case of funding scientific research activities from public sources in the Republic of Slovenia, the Decree also specifies certain exceptions in its transitional provisions.
Data on open access journals are based on information from the database DOAJ: Directory of Open Access Journals.
The database also includes Slovenian scientific journals that are part of the collection Odprto založništvo.
In addition to suitable open access journals, the database also allows you to search for hybrid journals that are available for open access publishing based on your affiliation and membership in various international scientific literature consortia. You can also view the approximate number of vouchers available to you.

* transitional eligibility of open access costs in subscription-based journals, the so-called hybrid model of scholarly publishing, more on this in Decree on the Implementation of Scientific Research Work in Accordance with the Principles of Open Science.
